Well, what a 24hours I have had. This time yesterday I started to feel unwell with a Gastric pain in the middle of my chest, so off to bed I went. It got worse during the afternoon to Vicky phoned the Chemo hot line and they recommended that I went to A&E to have tests to ensure there was no infections. So off go the kids to their cousins and we trundle off to the hospital.
Blood tests showed that my white cell count was 2.2 and the neotrophils 1.1, both below the recommended levels. No sign of infection in chest or water so I had to wait to see a doctor before clearance to come home. Some three hours later (2330) he arrives and discharges me...not happy.
So its home and a good nights kip.
Then to this morning. Having a nice lie in when Vicky answers the phone: 'Hello its Christies Hospital, can we speak to Chris....'. To cut a long conversation short its the results from the PET scan and they are not what we wanted to hear. I showed a level 3 which means that I still have a trace of infection in my body, so its back to the Chemotherapy on Tuesday for another cycle (2 sittings) of ABVD followed by three weeks of radiotherapy. The rest of the conversation was lost as I found my chin on the floor and tried to put in back in place. I, we, were all sure that I had done enough and that the treatment so far would have done the trick, but not so...OH SHIT!
Really disappointed with this set back, but we have to remain positive and know that this will beat the buggers to a pulp and then we can start to rebuild our lives.
Dreading telling the Kids but that is something that we have to do. Planning to take them to Wales for a few days pre-chemo which will be nice.
So much for normality.....
Cheers and KYPU!

Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!!
BUT at least it is only a trace. I know that's of little comfort but I'm glad for you that they found it now and not three odd months down the line when the bugger could have had time to regroup.
Hitting the fecker hard and fast now with another cycle and rads will surely get rid of it for good!
I'vr kinda been in the same situation so just yell if you need anything. You do get over the shock and anger.
Keep fighting the fight and know that we are all rooting for you and thinking of you and the family here! You'll do it... just a wee bit longer, that's all!
Wullie
Aww Chris, I'm sooo sorry to hear your shitty news! I agree with Wullie, it's better you find this now before it has time to get stronger! Looks like we'll be finishing up our treatment around the same time now. Just remember, the worst is behind you, this chemo is old hat for you now, you can totally do a few more and get over the hump! Enjoy your trip with the children, you all deserve it. And no worries about the pictures, I'm just teasing you - but I do hope at least the tshirt fits :) I think they ran a little small. Anywho, keep your pecker up and email me when you're back home!!!
Absolutely gutted for you all. You've done absolutely brilliantly for this long, another couple of hurdles seem hard to face today, but you'll get over them with the same strength, humour and grace as you have the past few months.
Look after yourself and your lovely family - enjoy Wales and remember - you WILL make cancer your B***H!
We're with you all the way........x

Chris,
We are with you all the way mate. You must expect the odd set back but you are used to doing the hard yards by now and this treatment cycle is sure to get rid of it for good.
You may take a little while to get over the shock but focus on Vik and the kids and remain possitive.
You will just have to bounce back and get back in the chemo/treatment mindset.Remember how proud we all are of you and
KYPU.
Dave and Lorraine.
PS Many thxs for your card-look fwd to sending you the same thoughts.
Oh bollox!!! sorry to hear of your setback, which is all it is.... a setback. The two extra chemo's will will easily shift the remaining Hodge and you'll soon be with the rest of us in remission. Good luck with the next session, stay positive and strong and try not to let get to you - easy for me to say!!!
All the best..............Daz
Chris,
So sorry to hear that you have to carry on with treatment for while longer but at least it should all be over by the end of the summer. Then you can put all this behind you and get on with having fun!
Good luck.
Rach
